Metallography & Corrosion Analysis
Understanding a material's performance begins with understanding its microstructure and its behaviour in aggressive service environments. At Subodh Material Technologists, our Metallography & Corrosion Analysis Laboratory provides comprehensive evaluation services that help manufacturers, researchers, and quality engineers identify defects, validate material integrity, investigate failures, and ensure compliance with international standards.
Our laboratory combines advanced microstructure evaluation with specialised corrosion testing to provide a complete assessment of metallic materials, weldments, and engineering components. Whether you are developing a new alloy, qualifying a welding procedure, investigating service failures, or ensuring product reliability, our experienced metallurgists deliver accurate, standards-based interpretations backed by state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Microstructure Evaluation
Our metallography laboratory performs detailed examination of metallic microstructures using advanced optical microscopy techniques. We evaluate grain structure, phase distribution, inclusions, weld microstructures, heat treatment effectiveness, coating quality, decarburisation, carburisation, case depth, and manufacturing defects. These evaluations provide valuable insights into processing history, mechanical properties, and service performance while supporting quality assurance, failure investigations, and product development.
Corrosion Analysis
Our Corrosion Analysis Laboratory offers comprehensive testing to evaluate material performance in demanding environments following internationally recognised ASTM, NACE and ISO standards. Our capabilities include SSC (NACE TM0177), HIC (NACE TM0284), IGC (ASTM A262), NAMLT (ASTM G67), ASSET (ASTM G66), Salt Spray (ASTM B117), Pitting & Crevice Corrosion (ASTM G48), SO₂/Kesternich Testing (ASTM G87), Alternate Immersion Testing (ASTM G47) and other specialised corrosion evaluations. These services help industries assess corrosion resistance, qualify materials, optimise alloy selection, and enhance long-term component reliability.
Serving industries including Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Automotive, Power Generation, Chemical Processing, Heavy Engineering and Research & Development, our laboratory delivers technically sound, reliable, and traceable test results that support informed engineering decisions.
