What is ASTM G85 Modified Salt Spray Testing?
ASTM G85 is an accelerated corrosion testing standard developed to evaluate materials and protective coatings under more realistic environmental conditions than conventional neutral salt spray testing (ASTM B117).
Unlike continuous salt fog exposure, ASTM G85 includes several modified test methods that introduce cyclic wetting, drying, acidified electrolytes or sulphur dioxide environments to better replicate field corrosion mechanisms.
