Advanced Cyclic Fatigue Testing for Components
Even the highest-quality materials can fail when subjected to repeated, fluctuating loads. At Subodh Material Technologists, we specialize in component-level cyclic fatigue testing to help engineers, manufacturers, and R&D teams predict product lifespans, identify stress concentrations, and prevent catastrophic field failures.
We don't just test standard machined material coupons. We design custom fixtures to test your actual finished components under simulated, real-world service conditions.

Featured Case Study: Dynamic Cyclic Testing of Seismic Dampers
To understand how we handle complex component testing, look no further than our recent work with heavy-duty seismic dampers. Designed to protect critical infrastructure during earthquakes, these components must reliably absorb massive amounts of kinetic energy. Standard static testing is completely insufficient for this application.
The Challenge: The client needed to validate that their dampers would not succumb to low-cycle fatigue (LCF) when subjected to the violent, reversing loads of a seismic event.
Our Approach:
Custom Rigging: We mounted the massive dampers into our high-capacity servo-hydraulic testing frame, utilizing custom-machined clevis fixtures to ensure zero backlash during load reversal.
Seismic Simulation: We subjected the component to a severe, low-frequency cyclic load profile. The actuator delivered high-displacement strokes—pushing and pulling the damper to simulate the exact ground accelerations of a major earthquake.
Data Output: We generated continuous Force-Displacement hysteresis loops, allowing the client to verify the exact amount of energy dissipated per cycle and proving the component's structural integrity.
