In a landmark policy shift for India’s defence manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Defence has approved the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for all conventional missile systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to domestic private industry.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced this move to promote greater private sector participation, increase domestic value addition, and expand production capacity across the armed forces supply chain. Moving away from single-source Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) nominations, private players will now compete through open evaluation criteria to build, scale, and develop advanced variants of critical weapon systems.
